And the Stupid award goes to.....

An unnamed store in Essex in the United Kingdom. Into which a 92-year-old great grandmother went in order to buy a bottle of whisky.

Are you under 18?
Diane Taylor from Harlow was advised that she would have to prove that she was older than 18 years old (the legal minimum for buying alcohol in the UK) and she was asked for proof of identity. She provided her over-60s bus pass, her OAP card and other ID but was still refused service on the grounds that she had not provided a passport or driving license.
A spokesman for the store advised that they have to ask all customers for ID or risk losing their off license.
It would apppear that only passports or driving licences are can provide proof of age. Cork Monkey would have thought the Old Age Pensioner Card was a clue, failing that use your eyes guys.
